affects the investor’s confidence, because it represents the company’s value and prospect in the market. As the Appendix 4 shows, the dividend is

increasing which means the operation performance of Opal is well and more

potential and existing shareholders might be attracted.

a. Strategy is getting it right and doing it right. It is very important to organizations. Choosing strategy is direct effect organization’s development and future. And every strategy have advantages and disadvantages, so in the different complex situation, we can adopt different strategies to solve problems. Now I will choose four possible strategies which the organizations may adopt. The first is cost leadership strategy. Cost leadership is the low-cost leader in any market gains competitive advantage from being able to produce at the lowest cost. Company can use low cost strategy defeat the competitors among the marketing environment. The second is differentiation. A competitive strategy that allows a company to sell its products for a premium price. This emphasizes creating superior products, products with unique or more desirable features or design. The third is focus strategy. The generic strategy of focus rests on the choice of a narrow competitive scope within an industry. The focuser selects a segment or group of segments in the industry and tailors its strategy to serving them to the exclusion of others. The focus strategy has two variants. One is in cost focus a firm seeks a cost advantage in its target segment, the other is in differentiation focus a firm seeks differentiation in its target segment. The fourth is diversification. This is where we market completely new products to new customers. There are two types of diversification, namely related and unrelated diversification. Related diversification means that we remain in a market or industry with which we are familiar. b. During the 1980s and 1990s, JD Wetherspoon used broad differentiation strategy. Compare other pubs; JD Wetherspoon is special and different. They sell a wide range o f real ale beers at relatively low price; good quality wine is available; they don’t play music or TV programmers; especially the non-smoking and toilet design. Because its clean comfortable atmosphere and low price high quality products, it bring some benefits to JD Wetherspoon. They provide good services, such as cheap beer, good conversation and solid

The PESTEL analysis heading are a framework in which environmental influence are categorized into six main types: political, economic, socio-cultural, technological,, environmental and legal. 1.P: political forces, as the political arena has a huge influence upon the regulation of business and the spending of consumers and other businesses. The political is including government stability, taxation policy, social welfare policies and the trade regulations. Part(b) 有关的知识:Price elasticity of demand; promotional methods; product life cycle; market research. Price elasticity may influence Barr’s in that it can lead to attempts to enhance brand loyalty so that price elasticity is reduced which, in turn, curtail the impact on sales of a change in price. There are many examples in the case study of attempts to develop brand loyalty, eg Irn-Bru, Tizer 2. Relevant concepts: systems approach; stakeholders; government economic policy; users of financial information. Answers should use examples to show how Barr’s has reacted to feedback from its environment and how it has tried to influence it. Answers should analyse the process by which Barr’s interacts in each case. Possible example include: use of government. Assistance when entering the Russian market(and discussion of market failure); threats to or angina franchise; changing promotional methods to make use of the internet; currency fluctuations and the knock-on effects; ASA and possible public reaction to Barr’s . For fidelity, this could be used to monitor whether it has invested in terms of its objectives(eg these may relate to companies which have stable earnings), whether it has a suitable share profile across several companies; whether previous share purchasing decisions should be reviewed. Barr’s could use it to monitor the year on year progress of the company, to monitor the effectiveness of its profit sharing scheme.
