Many large cities have a subway system(地铁系统). The subway is called tube in London. In San Francisco, it is called BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit). Some subway systems, like Chicago’s, a re quite old. It opened in 1897. Others are more recent. For example, Mexico City’s subway started in 1969.

I grew up in a small town in Spain. One morning when I was 16, my father told me I could drive him into a village called Mijas, about 18 miles away, if I had the car repaired at a nearby garage (汽车修理厂).
